Ya' know when you give a little kid a piece of candy and their face lights up? Well adults aren't really that different when they get an unexpected compliment.

The idea for this website came to me one night (9-11-07) when I was getting into my van at the grocery store. I saw a woman pushing her cart back to the cart return. She looked beat! Then, I thought to myself the blouse she was wearing looks great on her. It was a beautiful shade of lilac. I usually don't say anything but, that night, I figured why not tell her? So, I put my van window down and said, "Excuse me, in case no one told you today, that color blouse looks beautiful on you." Her whole demeanor changed. She stood up a little taller, her eyes lit up and she got a huge smile on her face. She responded, "thank you," it was such a quick, simple encounter but that smiled stayed with me. I thought, "Wow, it made me feel good too!" With one simple encounter I brightened someone's day. It didn't cost either of us a dime, yet we both got something out of it!

This website will allow you to share your simple encounters that brought a smile to someone's face and as a bonus made you feel good as well. No one will know your name and you won't get any credit for it. Or, perhaps you were the recipient of a compliment and you can tell us how it affected you.

My goal for the next year is to gather as many smiles as possible and share the successes with you. I would love all of you to do the same. Hopefully it will catch on. No matter your age, sex, religion, race - you can do it!
